Outdoor Leader Skills for Webelos Leaders

Training for Webelos leaders to lead den campouts

Nugent United Methodist Church, 13183 John Clark Road, Gulfport

8:00 am until 8:30 pm

Check in will take place from 7:30 am –8:00 am

This one-day event is for all Webelos leaders, and interested parents, and will provide training in the many areas of responsibility associated with the outdoor program.  Throughout the day, participants will receive training in the following areas: 

  • Outdoor Ethics
  • Cooking and Sanitation
  • Ropes and Knots
  • Planning Webelos Den Overnight Campouts
  • Flag Ceremonies
  • Campsite Selection, Tents, and Bedding
  • Woods tools
  • Packing and Hiking Techniques
  • Planning a Campfire Program
  • Webelos to Scouts Transition
  • Fire Site Preparation and Building
  • Maps and Compass
  • Outdoor Adventures

Participants must complete all classes in order to be considered Trained.

Please bring the following with you:

  • Folding chair                
  • Water bottle
  • Webelos book
  • Compass
  • Notebook, pen or pencil
  • Outdoor clothing

Cost:  $6.00 per person (includes lunch, dinner, and training materials)

Fees are non-refundable.

We cannot accept walk-ins on the day of the event.
