tall Pine district

About the district

The Pine Burr Area Council is divided into six districts, with 3 districts in the southern half of the council (Tung Belt, Spanish Trail, and Singing River) and the other 3 primarily serving the northern half of the council (Tall Pine,  Chickasawhay, and Twin Rivers).  The purpose of a district is to recruit strong adult leaders, to develop solid relationships with chartered organizations in communities, and to prepare young people to make ethical and moral choices to make a positive difference in their local communities in South Mississippi.

The Tall Pine District serves Forrest, Lamar, Covington, Marion, Jefferson Davis, Perry and Greene counties and was established in May of 1927.  In 2017, the district served over 900 youth members in 38 units throughout the district.  The district experienced over 17% growth in membership from the previous year.  With such a large service area, the district will continue to grow as opportunities for new units continue to present themselves.
